Group discussion is a term that is used to refer to an oral communication situation in which a small number of professionals meet and discuss a specific problem or an issue. 

In order to exchange information on important points related to the topic of growth or expansion in which they belong. 

The number of participants can vary from 5 to 10. 

 Group discussion is not only conducted within the organization but also is used to filter candidates during interviews and especially for MBA programs.

• Firstly define the topic or issues 
• Initiate and generate the discussion 
• Trying to analyze its scope and implication 
• Encourage and provide reticent members to speak 
• Carefully listen to the views of others

• Trying to leave the group for the definite conclusion 
• Be brief and to the point when you present your thoughts or views

• Be relaxed and pleasant atmosphere throughout the discussion

• State the conclusion reached

• Don't be assertive in presenting your views 
• Don't monopolize the discussion 
• Don't dominate the discussion for another candidate
• Don't try to make any personal remarks 
• Don't speak continuously for a long time listening to others too 
• Don't speak in a monotone 
• Don't use aggressive gestures 
• Don't ignore any member of the group 
• Don't jump to the conclusion 
• Neither raises your voice too high not speak too slowly or softly
